Packaging Operator - Day shift - Gaylord II

Responsibilities

• Maintains all tray packers and ensures proper operations (loading trays, maintaining proper glue volume, etc.)
• Maintains video jet to ensure they are properly cleaned, adequate liquid is available, correct information is coded, and print is clear and readable at all times.
• Makes sure the shrink-wrap machine is operational and adds film as needed.
• Fills in for other Packaging machine operators during breaks and when on vacation.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe, productive work area.
• Fosters open communications and a positive attitude towards work and fellow employees.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance.
• Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMPs, maintains sanitary conditions, and ensures product quality is maintained.
• Reports to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
• Performs sanitation procedures in accordance with department and food safety standards (may last the duration of the shift).
• Runs, cleans, conducts preventive maintenance, troubleshoots extended run fillers, i.e.: Elopack Fillers/Capers Scholle.
• Navigates operating systems on tablets to conduct required quality and performance checks.
• Follows instructions for ingredient mixing.
• Calculates mathematical equations, figures, and amounts to include proportions, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
• Ensures Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
• Performs other similar duties and responsibilities as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors, or employees of the organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.00 to $26.50 per hour.
