Packaging Operator 3RD Shift
About the role
A packaging operator is a professional who works in manufacturing or industrial settings, operating and monitoring machinery to produce goods. They are responsible for setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment to ensure efficient and safe production and must have the ability to work in a safe manner, follow safety guidelines. Understand and follow Food Safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Work flexible schedules and work in other departments including weekends and holidays
- Read and understand recipes
- Ability to troubleshoot process related issues within the boundaries of the recipe
- Use digital scales and have a working knowledge of scale functions
- Mix doughs according to recipe
- Have a working knowledge of the mixer, using the time and batch recipe system
- Follow FIFO (First in First Out), Mix lot number and documentation accuracy
- Clean & Refill ingredient bins and label the bins with the correct lot number
- Work in a standing position for entire shift and climb steps and ladders
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Observe all plant safety, GMP and allergen procedures and attend appropriate training sessions
- Manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements
- Immediately report all food safety and quality issues to your supervisor
- Support the shift team as needed
- Third shift hours are generally from 11:00PM-7:00AM, starting Monday night
Requirements
- PREFERRED SKILLS: Must be able to communicate with others as well as management, understand FDA guidelines and company policies, and have mathematical skills
- Physical demands: Works in a manufacturing facility and requires standing, bending, climbing or walking 80% of the time. Frequently carry or lift 50 pounds or more.

Skills
- Ability to work in a standing position for entire shift and climb steps and ladders
- Ability to clean mixers, work areas properly during and after production runs or changeovers
- Ability to monitor and assist with equipment upstream/downstream to ensure continuous operation
- Ability to observe all plant safety, GMP and allergen procedures and attend appropriate training sessions
