About the role
The Packaging/Manufacturing Technician position is an urgent need at a Medical Devices Company located in San Diego, CA. Duration is 6 months with a total of 40 hours per week on a first shift schedule from 6:00am to 2:30pm.
Responsibilities
- Fill liquid antibodies into small vials in a laboratory environment using lab instruments such as pipettes, peristaltic pumps, and analytical balances.
- Learn and understand basic packaging processes including bagging and labeling.
- Organize individual schedules to meet departmental goals.
- Support label creation process by learning and operating all labeling equipment.
- Support departmental packaging supplies and material management function.
- Operate associated equipment to produce printed literature.
- Attend LDMS and daily shift start-up meetings.
- Input packaging data into SAP system or other Production Planning/Manufacturing Resource database systems.
- Adhere to department guidelines and procedures.
- Follow client Biosciences Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
- Report any observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices to supervisors.
- Participate in EH&S programs.
Requirements
- Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient learner with new tasks and methods.
- Attention to detail.
- A science and/or manufacturing background is required.
- Ability to calculate fill volume based on concentration (mg/ml) and understand the metric system.
- Wear appropriate attire including long pants or skirt, closed-toe shoes, and lab coat with gloves and goggles as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning of packaging stations and processing equipment.
- Handle hazardous waste as appropriate.
- High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 6 months of industry work experience required.
- Strong attention to detail, good documentation practices, and willingness to work flexible schedules including static or rotating shifts and overtime as required.
- Familiarity with computers and various software for general business functionality.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
