About the role

The Packaging Shift Lead will supervise a team in various packaging functions, operating the bottle filler, canning line, and kegger, as well as directing CIPs and preventative maintenance. This role is responsible for managing daily operations of the line they are assigned to—including staffing and team supervision—making decisions that aid in efficient, quality production of products. The Shift Lead will coordinate day-to-day work with the Packaging Management Team and follow safety brewery guidelines, SOPs, and cleaning procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Create weekly shift staffing schedule based on vacation schedule and approve/deny PTO.
  • Confirm proper packaging mix and packaging materials (PakTechs, Crowns, Lids, Keg Collars, etc.) based on BBT volume before kegging/filling of product.
  • Maintain an up-to-date snapshot of all BBTs to allow for fluid transfer of information to the rest of the packaging team on shift.
  • Coordinate the Master Training Matrix to ensure employees on shift are trained efficiently and designate who needs training on which tasks.
  • Develop and/or update SOPs for tasks associated with the master training matrix and communicate changes to the Packaging Manager.
  • Create a daily shift report for the respective shift.
  • Communicate maintenance issues to the team and submit work orders.
  • Compile data from each run, enter it into Excel, print the report, and deliver it to the Packaging Manager (includes QA/QC Sheet, Pallet Tickets, BBT paperwork, Packaging Run Sheet).
  • Supervise a team of 7-10 individuals, ensuring daily/weekly/monthly tasks are upheld per shift.
  • Meet with the Packaging Management Team weekly and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Delegate tasks during downtime on the production floor and triage requests from packaging employees.
  • Work to decrease downtime on the production floor and assist on machines as needed.

Requirements

  • Able to complete packaging release targets, including sterile sample collection and taking measurements of O2/CO2 using the Gehaltemeter or C-Box as required.
  • Able to drive a forklift for movement of raw goods (cans, bottles) and finished goods (cases, trays, kegs).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organization.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach repetitively.
  • Maintain confidentiality with business-related information.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Complete duties as assigned and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow all PPE and GMP requirements.

Pay

Total pay includes a $28/hr base wage plus a $3/hr second shift premium, totaling $31/hr.

Schedule

2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4 PM–2 AM.
