Packaging Engineer - Urgent Need (Req Exp in medical devices or pharma industry)

Location: Franklin Lakes, NJ • Duration: 12 months • Hours: 40/week • Pay rate: $30–40/hr • Hybrid schedule: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote

About the role

Contract W2 position with a medical-device company. Candidates must be US citizens, Green-Card holders, or have a valid EAD, OPT, or CPT.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in medical-device or pharmaceutical packaging

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and qualify new packaging concepts in accordance with design-control requirements, with moderate guidance
• Evaluate and improve existing packaging concepts, with moderate guidance
• Identify, analyze, and specify standard packaging materials and equipment
• Support external contractors as needed
• Apply packaging standards and regulatory requirements (ISO 11607, EU MDR, etc.)
• Perform packaging verification and validation for medical devices
• Follow design-control processes for medical devices
• Adhere to client Quality and Corporate Policies

Skills

• Medical-device packaging system development for flexible and rigid applications
• Packaging verification and validation experience
• CAD tools for packaging design
• Statistics and design of experiments
• Knowledge of ISO 11607, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971
• Effective communication of technical knowledge and validation of packaging test methods/standards
