About the role
Kenvue is currently recruiting for a Packaging Engineer II. Reporting to the Associate Director SH&B Packaging R&D, this role is located in North America, United States, New Jersey, Summit.
Responsibilities
- Enhances and validates package components and packaging processes.
- Develops package testing plans and interprets results as required for various projects.
- Captures and coordinates all activities associated with manufacturing and testing.
- Provides troubleshooting in the resolution of packaging related issues in manufacturing and the field.
- Participates in process improvement or task teams.
- Participates and advises in decisions involving equipment, package design, cost saving and source reduction.
- Carry out work orders of new package development projects.
- Determines and coordinates physical testing to ensure product and package integrity for manufacturing through end users.
- Researches and catalogues packaging methods and techniques and recommends adaptations to meet variations.
- Builds technical competencies in packaging materials and processes used in all manufacturing processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Package Development Engineer will be responsible for:
- Leading development of new packages, including improvement and cost reduction of existing packages for the Skin Health Franchise.
- Supporting product release by ensuring all required specifications, documentation, package line trials, and package testing.
- Working independently with moderate supervision and taking a leadership role with packaging projects.
- Influencing and interfacing with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Closely interacting with other cross-functional groups including other Global Engineering Associates, Research & Development, Marketing, Project Management, Design, Operations, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Developing consumer products for global consumers with creative problem-solving abilities, sound technical background, and a passion for packaging.
- Primarily supporting New Product Innovation/Development.
Requirements
- A minimum of a BS degree in Packaging, Engineering, or a related Science discipline is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 4 years of minimum experience in Cosmetic/Personal Care or related industry is required.
- Knowledge of materials and processes used in construction and manufacturing of packaging such as: Extrusion/Injection molding, Dispensing systems (airless, pumps), Various decoration techniques, Solid understanding of a broad spectrum of packaging materials, structures, components, and related conversion processes.
- Ability to manage multiple constantly evolving priorities with minimal supervision.
- Experience in package line trials and package testing.
- Strong technical writing/documentation skills.
- Experience with GMP requirements.
