Packager Operator Nights - Norwich, NY
About the role
The Norwich, NY location is part of our Applied Health and Nutrition Division and one of our specialty sites that creates proteins, lactose, coatings, and flavors. The location lies within Chenango County and is advantageously located within a 50-mile radius of the major cities of Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Cooperstown and Oneonta.
What You'll Do
- Makes and packages according to requirements under the direction of the Department Supervisor and/or Shift Group Leader.
- Operates and helps with all blenders, packaging, batch setting, filtration devices, TRS, HTST’s, cooler, heater, evaporators, dryer and CIP systems.
- Ensures all transactions in SAP are accurate.
- Performs in-process testing according to approved methods to ensure finished product meets targeted specifications.
- Fills out master batch records on time and in a neat, orderly fashion according to GMP’s.
- Operates forklift truck in a safe manner and uses proper safety measures.
- Lifts up to 55 lbs.
- Aids other operators with tasks such as cleaning filter presses, relieving breaks, or operating equipment.
- Ensures all transactions in SAP are accurate.
- During downtime, performs general departmental maintenance, such as painting, cleaning, and operational maintenance of department machinery.
Qualifications and skills
- Good working knowledge of arithmetic and confidence in its use.
- Knowledge of multiple jobs in department.
- Neat and consistent work ethic.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly.
- Reads and understands written instructions from the department supervisor or shift group leader.
- Strict adherence to company policies.
- Able to adjust work schedule to department requirements.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of multiple jobs preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask.
- Capable of leading by influence.
Pay and Benefits
