About the role
We are a third-generation family-owned organization seeking Packagers for our brand-new manufacturing facility in Greenwood County, South Carolina. This is a second shift position with a schedule of Monday through Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.
Pay
Starting pay is $18 per hour with a $1.25 shift differential.
Responsibilities
- Pack sandwiches in bun trays and corrugated boxes at designated line speeds.
- Rotate all positions on a 30-minute basis and follow all standard work procedures.
- Box Maker: Place label on the box in the correct position; open the box and fold flaps to prepare for boxers.
- Boxer: Monitor the print on sandwiches for correct price and day code; verify face and ingredient labels; place product in the box or bun tray in the correct designated format.
- Racker: Place completed bun trays into metal racks or finished cases on pallets; monitor printing on each case or tray to ensure date and codes are correct and legible; complete all paperwork and turn in after each period to Pack-off Lead.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, organized work area and wear all required safety gear such as a hard hat and gloves.
- Successfully complete mandatory quarterly safety training sessions to comply with OSHA regulations and E.A. Sween policy.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment whenever and wherever necessary.
- Ensure pallets, racks, and dollies are stored and transported with safety in mind to support a Zero Safety Incidents Policy.
- Execute assigned food safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities to support SQF requirements, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.
- Follow all GMPs, standard work, and safety practices; report any incidents where such procedures are not being followed to Pack-off Lead or Support Supervisor.
Requirements
- Previous assembly line experience in a high-speed packaging environment.
- Ability to write, count, and communicate in English.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Availability for a flexible schedule to include occasional weekends.
Qualifications
- Food-related experience is preferred.
Physical Environment
- Ability to work in cool conditions (35 to 45 degrees).
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to be on feet all day.
- Ability to bend, twist, turn, push, pull, reach overhead, and keep up with manufacturing speeds.
