Packaged Power Design Engineer
We are seeking an Automation Design Engineer to collaborate with Solution Architects and clients in designing and implementing advanced automation solutions that optimize production processes for our manufacturing customers.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with customers and team members to gather essential information for creating functional descriptions, scopes of work, requests for proposals, system designs, and solutions.
- Travel to customer sites as required.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and production metrics; recommend process improvements, new technologies, and methods to maximize operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Review functional specifications and design solutions to meet requirements.
- Define scopes of work using Work Breakdown Structure and estimate hours for completion.
- Prepare competitively priced solutions while maximizing company profitability.
- Present designs and solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement designs and solutions at customer sites or oversee technical implementation details during project execution, verifying alignment with design and specification.
- Collaborate with the team to create and maintain Van Meter’s automation standards.
- Support other engineers, managers, and the sales team.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions to support evolving customer and market demands.
- Identify areas to build efficiencies in analyzing, designing, and implementing solutions.
- Prepare documentation, such as testing protocols and manuals.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed and accurate reports on activities.
- Create models and drawings of products and systems.
- Assist in training the sales team on products and solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in design engineering, engineering, product design, industrial design, or a related field; and/or 3–5 years of previous industry experience.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with automation systems and programming is preferred.
- Experience with engineering design tools is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Pay
Several factors are considered in making compensation decisions at Van Meter, including but not limited to education, skill sets, work experience, training, and business and organizational needs. Compensation may be below the lower end of the range when minimum requirements are not met, while the higher end is reserved for candidates with extensive experience and qualifications exceeding role requirements.
