Responsibilities

  • Aid in scheduling, transporting, and transferring (in facility) participants as required for Physical and Occupational Therapy services
  • Aid participants in completing non-skilled/Maintenance/Group therapy under the supervision of Physical and/or Occupational Therapy
  • Document and communicate any scheduling conflicts with participants and appropriate staff
  • Distribute schedules and other needed information to the appropriate staff and/or participant
  • Assist the Physical Therapist and PTA with treatment (including, but not limited to, ambulation, ROM, hot/cold packs)
  • Assist the Occupational Therapist and COTA with treatment (including, but not limited to, ADLs, therapeutic exercise/activities)
  • Document patients' communication, engagement and progress consistently under supervision of Physical and Occupational Therapy
  • Maintain general upkeep of Rehab Gym (sanitizing appropriate gym equipment, placing equipment in designated locations, performing linen laundry)
  • Provide clerical support to Rehabilitation Staff as needed
  • Provide appropriate communication with other members of clinical staff (Including but not limited to (Providers, nurses, social workers, home care staff))
  • Attend staff meetings as directed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
  • Current CPR and BLS certification, required
  • Clean driving record
  • Drivers license

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population required
  • One (1) year experience in a medical care setting as an Aide in an allied health field is desirable
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred
  • Skilled in communicating with participants, their families, and other staff members; ability to establish a helping, trusting relationship with participants
  • Ability to utilize appropriate safety measures when providing care
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously as part of an interdisciplinary team, the elderly, providers of services, and peers
  • Well organized, dependable, flexible, and resourceful

Medical Clearance

Employees must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
