PA or CRNP (ACNP), Staff or Senior - Surgical Oncology GI (Part-Time)

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Part-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care) to support Surgical Oncology - GI at UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Presbyterian.

About the Role

• 100% outpatient clinic
• Surgeon has 1.5 clinics per week; APP would have 1 clinic/week based on need
• Responsibilities include triaging phone calls, peer-to-peer communication, supporting clinical staff, responding to emails, obtaining surgical consents, and preparing patient charts for clinical care

Department specializes in Surgical Oncology but also performs general surgery procedures. High-paced environment with high expectations.

Qualifications

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

• Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program
• BSN, MSN preferred
• Professional nursing and/or nurse practitioner experience preferred
• Current state RN license and CRNP certification
• National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for CRNP certification by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
• Current CPR certification
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 Clearances required

Physician Assistant (PA)

• Graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by ARC-PA
• BS or MS preferred
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or in a clinical setting preferred
• Current state PA license certified by NCCPA
• Current CPR certification
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 Clearances required

Senior Level

• Minimum 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency
• Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or ARC-PA-accredited physician assistant program
• BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP; BS or MS preferred for PA
• Completion of National Certification
• Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual evaluation
• Completion of an OAPP-approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion
• Department chair approval for promotion
• ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS, or other AHA-standard certifications (didactic and skills demonstration) within 30 days of hire

Schedule

• 8-hour shifts (with possibility to shift to 10-hour shifts) Monday through Friday
