PA or ACNP, Staff or Senior - UPMC Critical Care Medicine

UPMC Pinnacle Medical Services is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support Critical Care Medicine.

About the role

This position operates in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment dedicated to learning and requires quick, critical thinking. As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP), you will contribute to UPMC’s mission of Life Changing Medicine, set standards for care quality, and provide patient care through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with the care delivery team.

The Staff or Senior APP is responsible for managing patient care activities, establishing collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers, and demonstrating a commitment to the community and profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights.

Location

UPMC Harrisburg, UPMC West Shore, or UPMC Memorial.

Responsibilities

Requirements

Qualifications

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

• Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• Professional nursing and/or nurse practitioner experience preferred.
• Current state RN license and CRNP certification required.
• National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania Board of Nursing, and certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• Current CPR certification.
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 clearances required.

Physician Assistant (PA)

• Graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
• BS or MS preferred.
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or in a clinical setting preferred.
• Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Current CPR certification.
• Act 33, Act 73, and Act 34 clearances required.

Senior Level

• Minimum 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency.
• Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program or ARC-PA-accredited physician assistant program.
• BSN or MSN preferred for CRNP; BS or MS preferred for PA.
• National certification required.
• Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual evaluation for consideration and maintenance.
• Completion of an OAPP-approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion (department chair approval required).
• ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS, or other AHA-standard certifications (including didactic and skills components) within 30 days of hire.
• For outpatient or non-inpatient settings, APPs may use a business unit-approved certification relevant to the practice.
