P/T Program Specialist (WCC) / Coach - Accessibility Services

Westchester Community College was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. About the role

The Accessibility Services Department seeks a Part-Time Program Specialist to collaborate with staff in providing programs for students majoring in Career and Technical Education, helping them effectively navigate college life.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate outreach to students served by Accessibility Services to keep them apprised of key dates and services.
• Develop and facilitate workshops on topics such as student success strategies, assistive technology, and steps to request accommodations.
• Collaborate with staff, faculty, administrators, and external service providers to ensure provision of reasonable accommodations.
• Maintain accurate case files and required data for reporting system(s) to ensure student progress is documented and compliant with applicable regulations.
• Submit accurate and timely reports.
• Adhere to and keep current with ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable best practices, laws, and regulations pertaining to students with disabilities in higher education.
• Participate in departmental and College meetings as well as professional learning programs.
• Contribute to the assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Accessibility Services.
• May perform other incidental tasks, as required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or similar field, and two years of related experience working with students with disabilities in higher education.
• Satisfactory completion of 30 credits toward a Master's degree may be substituted for each year of the required experience.
• High attention to detail; excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining organized.
• Proactive nature; exceptional judgement; collegial and team-oriented temperament.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information; flexibility and adaptability to changing needs and priorities.
• Strong student-centered and asset-based orientation; ability to effectively work with a diverse team of faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.

Pay

$34.60/hour. No benefits.

Schedule

This is an on-campus position, working up to 17 hours per week. Evenings may be required.
