This position pays $36.95/Hr when assigned as a Lead for hospital guard services.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lead worker responsible for providing supervision for detainees in a hospital.
  • Maintains custody and control of the detainees in the hospital at all times.
  • Fulfills restraint protocols outlined in the Medical Guarding Procedures.
  • Ensures restraints utilized do not interfere with medical procedures or harm the detainee.
  • Ensures positioning is always within eyesight of the detainee.
  • Ensures detainees do not receive outside visitors, unless required by contract or court order.
  • Ensures detainees are not allowed to make telephone calls unless required by contract.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and reports in an accurate and thorough manner.
  • Turns all reports into the Transportation Supervisor according to the policies and procedures described.
  • Completes duty log detailing all events that take place during the shift.
  • Immediately reports all unusual events to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Ensures that detainees are properly secured prior to leaving the hospital.
  • Ensures that all safety measures are followed at all times, including but not limited to, all applicable federal, state, municipal and organizational laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
  • Three (3) years of continuous law enforcement related experience which includes at least two (2) years as a lead supervisor or supervisor OR successful completion of GEO’s Supervision Training Course (certificate must be provided.)
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must possess a State Firearms License.
  • Must possess a personal sidearm meeting company standards and use an approved Level III retention holster.
  • Must possess a State Security Guard License.
  • Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
  • Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
  • Able to work overtime frequently.
  • Able to travel extended periods of time with frequent overnight stays.
  • Able to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.
  • Able to regularly report to work without being late.
  • Able to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.
  • Able to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling 24 hour period.
  • Mature, flexible, and able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.
  • Able to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
