To enable our associates to grow, P&C Actuarial offers a competitive Exam Support program for associates pursuing their actuarial designations.

Our P&C Actuarial Analysts develop actuarial recommendations for leadership and implement changes to satisfy the financial objectives of the #1 Property and Casualty insurer in the United States. They also develop and apply statistical modeling techniques to solve business problems, conduct research, identify solutions to actuarial problems and analyze and prepare responses to various actuarial questions/issues. Our P&C Actuarial Analysts serve as valued resources to other State Farm areas, often engaging with business partners across the organization to solve multi-faceted business problems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop actuarial recommendations for leadership and implement changes to satisfy financial objectives
  • Develop and apply statistical modeling techniques to solve business problems
  • Conduct research and identify solutions to actuarial problems
  • Analyze and prepare responses to various actuarial questions/issues
  • Engage with business partners across the organization to solve multi-faceted business problems

Qualifications

We Are Looking for Candidates With:

  • Majors in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or other analytical fields (successful completion of bachelor’s degree prior to start date)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.25, GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred (unofficial transcripts required with application)
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python
  • Completion of a prior actuarial internship or similar work experience
  • Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society actuarial exam, two or more exams is preferred
  • Intention to earn the ACAS/FCAS designation
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with delivering multiple projects on time and with quality
  • Ability to collaborate with peers, managers, and stakeholders to define project scope and deliver shared outcomes
  • Ability to work in the gray and develop recommendations aligned to department and enterprise goals

Incumbency Period: There is a 24-month incumbency period (beginning on the employee's effective date) for any lateral job movements and a 12-month incumbency period for any promotional opportunities, which must be met before the employee may post for other State Farm positions. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

Schedule

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week.

Hybrid Work Arrangement: In this position, you should plan to spend time working in the office a minimum of 2 days per week and moving to 3 days in 2027. Associates are expected to be able to travel to and from your assigned office location as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements could change over time based on business need. Your manager will share additional information regarding your department’s approach and what it means for you.

Pay

Potential starting salary range: $82,100 reflecting 1 exam passed and will increase with additional passed exams. Starting salary will be based on skills, background, experience, and passed exams.

  • Actuarial Exam support/reimbursements and salary increases for passed exams
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
  • Incentives for successful completion of industry exams (ACAS and FCAS)
