Oxygen Delivery Technician

About the role

Reports directly to the Oxygen Delivery Manager. This role involves delivering equipment and supplies from inventory as prescribed on patient/client delivery tickets, assuring proper segregation of clean and dirty equipment in the delivery vehicle, and providing patient/client orientation on proper use, maintenance, and safety of equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with all DOT and FDA regulations as they pertain to oxygen.
  • Load the equipment, oxygen systems, and related supplies into vehicle.
  • Determine or obtain the best daily route, then drive delivery vehicles on that route, to deliver home medical equipment, oxygen, and supplies to home care patients/clients in a timely manner.
  • Complete route sheet accurately and return in a timely manner.
  • Provide patient/client orientation, instructing on the proper use, maintenance, and safety of equipment.
  • Work with patients/clients to solve a variety of problems, thereby acting as a company field representative.
  • Return and unload returned rental equipment, assuring proper segregation of clean and dirty equipment.
  • Complete delivery and pick-up paperwork promptly and accurately, including route sheets, manifests, and patient/client documentation, returning paperwork to the appropriate facility personnel.
  • Assist in cleaning and disinfecting rental equipment.
  • Assist in minor repair work on home medical equipment within the scope of training.
  • Request additional stock for inventory as needed.
  • Assist in inventory count as needed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and appear in proper company uniform.
  • Assist in tracking down paperwork, signatures, charts, etc. as needed to complete orders.
  • Promote teamwork among co-workers, including in assisting respiratory therapists and patient care coordinator as needed.
  • Take "on-call" time on an agreed upon basis.
  • Perform all office maintenance tasks as required.
  • Demonstrate timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when dealing with patients/clients.
  • Market the company in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Assume other duties within scope of training as assigned by the Respiratory Operations Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • 1-3 years of EMT and/or Medical Delivery Driver experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to interact knowledgeably with customers/clients.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Physical demands and work environment

Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This job will require the employee to go into patient homes and hospitals for the set-up and service of medical devices.
