About the role

The Owner's Authorized Representative (OAR) position at LAUSD involves representing the District on assigned school projects from preconstruction through closeout. This includes owning the project budget and schedule, managing contractors, reviewing schedules and submittals, responding to Requests for Information (RFCs), and negotiating change order proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned projects from preconstruction and bid/award through construction and closeout
  • Own the project budget and schedule to the District's standards, monitored monthly
  • Manage the contractor day-to-day, including scheduling, submittal reviews, and substitution reviews
  • Negotiate change order proposals for a fair and reasonable price
  • Review and administer architect agreements
  • See projects through DSA certification and financial closeout
  • Provide clear status and progress reports to upper management

Requirements

  • 10 years of construction and/or combined project and construction management on commercial or public/educational facilities, with 3 years having full responsibility for complex projects valued over $10M
  • A bachelor's in architecture, engineering, or construction management, or a bachelor's in any field plus the ability to earn a Construction Management Certified Manager (CCM) within one year of hire in the LAUSD Facilities Services Division, or a current CCM
  • Experience in Design-Build, BIM, and LEED/CHPS
  • Experience with the DSA construction and design process
  • OSHA 30 California Architect or Professional Engineer license, or a CCM (CMCI)

Skills

Construction and project management experience, familiarity with DSA processes, knowledge of Design-Build, BIM, and LEED/CHPS, OSHA 30 California Architect or Professional Engineer license, CCM (CMCI), and strong communication and coordination skills.
