Job Summary
BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Part-time Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team in North Dallas, TX. This role offers an exciting, fast-paced opportunity to utilize skills gained and expand them under the guidance of talented veterinary professionals.
Responsibilities
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients
- Use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the veterinarian to changes and issues
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
- Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
- Mentor and train other co-workers
- Address client concerns with patience and empathy
Requirements
- Experience as a Veterinary Technician
- Current certification from a recognized organization
- Knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring equipment
- Ability to triage emergency cases and obtain vital signs
- Proficiency in digital radiography and interpreting patient vital signs
- Experience with phlebotomy and catheter placement
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Passion for mentoring and training others
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current certification from a recognized organization
- Experience in a veterinary setting
