Job Summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Part-time Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team in North Dallas, TX. This role offers an exciting, fast-paced opportunity to utilize skills gained and expand them under the guidance of talented veterinary professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients
  • Use anesthesia/monitoring equipment
  • Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure
  • Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including proper positioning of patients
  • Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
  • Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the veterinarian to changes and issues
  • Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR
  • Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels
  • Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters
  • Mentor and train other co-workers
  • Address client concerns with patience and empathy

Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician
  • Current certification from a recognized organization
  • Knowledge of anesthesia and monitoring equipment
  • Ability to triage emergency cases and obtain vital signs
  • Proficiency in digital radiography and interpreting patient vital signs
  • Experience with phlebotomy and catheter placement
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Passion for mentoring and training others

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current certification from a recognized organization
  • Experience in a veterinary setting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Skills
