Overnight Support Professional
About the role
The Direct Support Professional I collaborates with a team and families to deliver family-driven, youth-guided, trauma-informed, and culturally competent services, fostering a safe environment for youth to develop life and social skills. The position emphasizes a commitment to diversity, professional growth, and delivering high-quality, evidence-based services to youth and families impacted by trauma.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and care for individuals, assisting with daily living skills and ensuring safety protocols.
- Develop, monitor, and report on treatment plans, assessing their effectiveness.
- Build professional relationships to support individual growth.
- Provide activities tailored to developmental levels to promote skill-building and community readiness.
- Document behavioral and emotional status, communicate with staff, families, and funders.
- Partner with treatment teams to ensure youth-centered decisions.
- Administer medications following procedures, handle crisis situations using de-escalation and restraint techniques.
- Transport clients, perform housekeeping, manage medication, and support staff training.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Successful completion of medication administration and CPR certifications.
- Valid NYS driver’s license preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and ethical conduct skills.
- Ability to recognize and manage escalating behaviors and maintain professionalism.
Physical & Work Environment
Must perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs., prolonged standing, walking, and driving. Capable of changing positions and handling exposure to environmental factors. May be required to physically restrain clients using approved techniques.
Pay
Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $24.00 per hour based on experience.
Schedule
The role requires flexibility for evening and weekend work, with accommodations available for disabilities.
