About the role

The Overnight Shift Supervisor assists Managers in providing management, leadership, and supervisory oversight of Youth Care Specialists at OhioGuidestone’s Youth Residential Treatment Center. This is a full-time position from 10pm-8am on Thursdays through Sundays.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and maintains the safety and security of residents during the overnight hours.
  • Makes sure accreditation, licensing standards, rules, and routines are met and maintained.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment throughout the campus.
  • Develops therapeutic relationships with residents.
  • Performs hourly rounds of the cottages and campus.
  • Handles all crisis situations and notifies appropriate Management if needed.
  • Maintains the required staff-to-resident ratio.
  • Gives ongoing feedback to staff, either positive or constructive.
  • Guides new staff through shift procedures and job expectations.
  • Informs program managers of issues and concerns from previous shifts.
  • Provides face-to-face assessments of restraints across the campus when on duty.
  • Completes overnight documentation before shift ends, including reviewing CIRs.
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • Attends supervision, team meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Adheres to specific contract and training requirements outlined by the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court and the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • May be involved in planning, organizing, and implementing special events or department-specific projects.

Qualifications

  • Ability to delegate, manage people, and evaluate staff and programs.
  • Physical ability to restrain residents with varying ages, heights, and weights.
  • Supervisory skills and flexibility to manage multiple sites.
  • Ability to transport residents.
  • Professional interactions with coworkers, representatives from outside agencies, and families.
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Typing and computer literacy, including Windows applications, Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail, and basic database usage.
  • Driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Education

  • Minimum educational level is a High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Associate’s degree and at least 2 years of experience working with children having emotional/behavioral/psychiatric problems, or a Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field is preferred.
