Overnight Residential Counselor

About the role

The Overnight Counselor will provide supportive counseling, restorative services, ADL Training, and crisis intervention to people with psychiatric disabilities in a licensed residential program.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive counseling and crisis intervention to residents with psychiatric disabilities.
• Implement ADL Training to enhance independence and daily living skills.
• Support medication monitoring and symptom management.
• Facilitate socialization and transportation training.
• Connect residents to psychiatric and medical services.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and at least 1 year of experience working in a mental health setting.
• A BA in Human Services and some experience with persons with psychiatric disabilities preferred.
• Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License.
• Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from the NYS Office of Mental Health required.

Qualifications

• Some experience with persons with psychiatric disabilities preferred.
• Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License.
• Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from the NYS Office of Mental Health required.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of psychiatric disabilities and recovery processes.
• Experience with crisis intervention and mental health support.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
