Overnight Resident Assistant

About the role

The Resident Assistant supports residents by providing personal care, companionship, and encouragement to promote their dignity, independence, and overall well-being. They assist with activities such as grooming, hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, while monitoring health status and supporting individualized care plans. Building positive relationships with residents, families, and staff fosters a respectful and trusting community environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care needs and daily activities.
• Respond to signals and communicate effectively with residents.
• Record vital signs and assist with mobility and repositioning.
• Help with laundry, housekeeping, and meal support, including transportation.
• Encourage participation in community activities and listen to residents’ concerns.
• Follow residents’ Advance Directives and ensure clear communication with families.
• Work collaboratively with the care team, taking initiative and resolving conflicts as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds independently and 200 pounds with assistance.
• Adherence to infection control protocols and PPE use.
• Active participation in team activities and ongoing training for professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in senior living or healthcare preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency with digital tools and electronic health records.
