About the role
The Overnight Receiving Supervisor directs and oversees warehouse operations for each retail store, manages the daily freight schedule based on customer and inventory needs, and supervises warehouse specialists, order pickers, and forklift operators.
Responsibilities
- Schedule warehouse personnel to ensure proper manning for shipping and receiving products in a productive and cost-efficient manner.
- Direct day-to-day warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, maintenance, and inventory control.
- Oversee warehouse operations related to Storage Buy transactions, receiving errors, and product staging.
- Maintain warehouse equipment, including preventive maintenance programs and coordinating repairs with CEM and/or Operations Manager.
- Ensure warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment for distribution functions.
- Implement warehouse safety programs to provide a safe and clean workplace, complying with OSHA, local, and state regulations.
- Ensure all associates are trained and follow standard operating procedures.
- Manage the progressive disciplinary process, including counseling and written warnings, to maintain a productive labor climate.
- Handle employee inquiries and resolve problems.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate efficient warehouse operations.
- Complete necessary Activity Reports for management.
- Monitor paperwork flow from Receiving to Inventory Control Specialist for timely data entry.
- Resolve discrepancies with shipping, invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports.
- Execute the Storage Buy Audit COP.
- Ensure products are staged for counting and inspection.
- Oversee proper product storage to conserve space and comply with safety procedures.
- Manage inventory rotation within the warehouse.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience, preferably in a warehouse or distribution center environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, team-building, delegating, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments and maintain working relationships.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Competency in basic mathematical calculations.
- Proficient computer skills, with the ability to work in Windows-based systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Availability to work extended hours, especially during peak seasons.
Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.
Physical & Sensory Requirements
- Ability to exert 30–60 pounds of force occasionally, 20–30 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle or feel.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching with arms and hands, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Store Hours
- Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Pickup Hours
- Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
