About the role

Target’s General Merchandise and Food Sales team ensures a consistent guest experience by keeping products set, in‑stock, accurately priced, and properly signed on the sales floor. The Inbound Expert supports inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas, including Food & Beverage and Food Service. This role involves pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work, and contributes to a safe, guest‑first culture.

The position provides training on guest service fundamentals, retail business fundamentals (sales trends, inventory management, process efficiency), and daily workload execution to meet business priorities and sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Execute a detailed, accurate, and efficient sorting operation.
• Stock, organize, and store reserve product; straighten merchandise on the sales floor.
• Maintain product availability for General Merchandise categories.
• Operate powered equipment while unloading freight or moving merchandise.
• Process defective merchandise and handle environmentally sensitive (ESIM) items in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; report and correct hazards.
• Support guest services as a backup cashier, order‑pick‑up (OPU) assistant, and Drive‑Up (DU) associate while adhering to adult‑beverage laws.
• Greet guests, engage in a welcoming manner, and thank them for shopping at Target.
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
• Climb ladders, scan, handle, and move merchandise safely, frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 lb.
• Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carry‑out.
• Perform any other duties based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices, operate handheld scanners, and use other technology equipment as directed.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem‑solving skills; resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, handling multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Reliable and prompt attendance; flexible schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times).
• Physical ability to remain mobile for the duration of a shift and lift/move merchandise up to 44 lb.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $19.00 USD per hour.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times. Shift length may vary; ability to remain mobile throughout the scheduled shift is required.
