The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team also leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.

As an Inbound Expert, you will gain skills and experience in:

  • Guest service fundamentals and supporting a guest-first culture
  • Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, and process efficiency
  • Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Responsibilities

  • Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by:
    • Greeting guests within 10 feet (smile, make eye contact, or wave) and 4 feet (initiate a warm, helpful interaction)
    • Helping guests find what they need or resolving issues for a smooth shopping experience
    • Ending every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
  • Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an inspiring guest experience
  • Execute a detailed, accurate, and efficient sorting operation
  • Stock, organize, and store reserve product; straighten merchandise on the sales floor
  • Maintain product availability on the sales floor for GM categories
  • Operate powered equipment (if certified) while unloading freight or moving merchandise
  • Process defective merchandise and handle environmentally sensitive (ESIM) items in compliance with laws and regulations
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick-up (OPU), and Drive-Up (DU) while maintaining compliance (e.g., adult beverage laws)
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Ability to communicate using frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology
  • Work both independently and with a team
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within timeframes
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise up to 44 pounds throughout a shift without assistance; involves repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); come to work as scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements (e.g., Drive-Up, carryout)
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
