Overnight Freight Department Manager

About the role

Your local Bi-Mart is looking for a fantastic individual to join the team as a Freight Department Manager. This is a working leadership position.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overnight freight crew, coordinate nightly operations, and ensure merchandise is received, stocked, and displayed accurately and efficiently.
• Unload delivery trucks, organize inventory, stock merchandise, maintain an orderly backroom, and prepare the sales floor for the next business day.
• Work alongside team members to perform various operational assignments, including freight processing, merchandising, and stocking.
• Serve as the Manager on Duty when assigned as the Person in Charge (PIC), providing leadership and direction to store team members.
• Support a profitable store by controlling expenses, maintaining in-stock conditions, and ensuring promotional and basic merchandise is presented according to company standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized store while identifying and addressing maintenance concerns.
• Enforce company policies and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
• Protect company assets and help minimize potential liabilities.
• Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and accountability.
• Oversee daily store activities, including freight processing, merchandising, stocking, and other operational assignments.

Qualifications

• Dependable with excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and support a team.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
• Able to delegate work while ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Ability to safely lift, carry, and move merchandise throughout the shift.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to lead by example.
• Previous experience as a department lead, cashier, sales associate, bagger, warehouse worker, or other retail positions are a plus.
• Prior experience at retail brands such as Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Fred Meyer, Safeway, and Albertsons is also an asset!
