Outside Sales Representative - Texas

About the role
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving profitable growth by developing new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing customers throughout Texas. This position serves as the face of Blacklidge within the assigned territory and is expected to build long-term partnerships through exceptional service, technical product knowledge, and relationship-based selling. This position requires a highly motivated, self-driven sales professional who enjoys building relationships, solving customer challenges, and spending time in the field. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Logistics, and Operations to execute strategic growth initiatives while representing the Blacklidge brand with professionalism and integrity. This territory-based position requires travel throughout Texas. Candidates residing in the Greater Houston Area are strongly preferred; however, all qualified applicants within the assigned territory are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities throughout the assigned territory
- Prospect and cold-call municipalities, contractors, state & local transportation agencies, and other target customers
- Generate qualified leads through referrals, networking, industry events, and strategic prospecting
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships that promote repeat business
- Achieve established sales goals and revenue targets
- Meet with prospective and existing customers both in person and virtually
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate Blacklidge products and solutions
- Prepare pricing, proposals, quotations, and sales agreements
- Negotiate contracts while maintaining company pricing and profitability objectives
- Provide exceptional customer service before, during, and after each sale
- Become a subject matter expert on Blacklidge products and their applications within the assigned territory
- Conduct field demonstrations and product applications for prospective customers
- Educate customers on product features, benefits, and best practices
- Assist customers with product selection and application recommendations
- Communicate customer feedback to internal teams to support product development and continuous improvement
- Maintain accurate customer, prospect, and sales activity records
- Manage sales pipeline and provide regular forecasting updates
- Prepare weekly activity reports and participate in sales meetings
- Collaborate with Marketing on promotional initiatives and lead generation campaigns
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer opportunities
- Conduct business in accordance with all company policies and ethical standards
- Comply with all safety requirements while visiting customer locations and job sites
- Represent Blacklidge professionally at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude while supporting company objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of outside B2B sales experience
- Previous experience selling construction materials, asphalt products, aggregates, concrete, or related products preferred
- Demonstrated ability to generate leads, develop relationships, and close sales
- Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Pay
Competitive Base Salary + Uncapped Commission based on qualifications and experience.
