Outside Sales Rep

About the role

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., makers of YellaWood brand Pressure Treated Pine, is seeking an Outside Sales Rep. This position will build solid relationships with customers, generate new business for the plant, and support Inside Sales Representatives.

Responsibilities

• Learn and communicate the "Great Southern Story" to include frequent communication of our unique selling points compared to competitors.
• Make phone calls and visits to potential and existing customers to qualify leads and sell products and services.
• Overcome technical and business objections of prospective customers.
• Identify and report new sales opportunities regarding new customers and/or product lines.
• Emphasize salable features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders for orders obtained.
• Estimate delivery dates based on knowledge of the company's production and delivery schedules.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Prepare reports of business transactions.
• Participate in weekly sales department meetings.
• Keep customer account activities and literature up to date.
• Investigate and resolve customer problems and claims.
• Travel to and attend customer functions and special events.
• Assist in training sales and other positions as requested by management.

Requirements

Education and/or experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from a four-year college or university; and/or one to two (1-2) years related experience in the treated lumber industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
