About the role
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new client opportunities, expanding existing customer relationships, and achieving maximum sales profitability within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s products and related services.
This role involves educating prospects through face-to-face visits, calls, trainings, and presentations, as well as providing exceptional support to existing customers.
Responsibilities
- Generate leads, build relationships, and secure appointments within a defined selling territory and target markets to drive confirmed orders/contracts.
- Represent the company’s services by deeply understanding solutions, identifying customer challenges, and providing tailored solutions.
- Maximize referral networks through participation in industry events and organizations.
- Monitor market trends, selling techniques, competitor information, and industry standards through independent research and company-provided resources.
- Provide excellent response times to customer inquiries, prepare and issue quotes, submit orders, and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain records of contacts, visits, calls, and meetings in company sales reports.
- Provide input to management for developing sales targets for the market segment/territory.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure customer order fulfillment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Associate degree preferred).
- 3+ years of successful outside sales experience; industrial sales experience strongly preferred.
- Must be persistent, energetic, and entrepreneurial.
- Available for local travel within the assigned territory.
- Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and criminal background check.
- Provide valid I-9 documentation.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Prior experience in wire rope fabrication, construction, equipment, or tool industry is preferred.

Working Conditions
- Heavy travel by car to current and potential client locations within a defined region/territory.
- Office work required for reporting, meetings, and administrative tasks.
- Routine use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, etc.).
- Full-time position (Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week).
- Minimal travel outside the assigned territory expected.
- Exposure to varied temperatures, dust, and loud noises in warehouse facilities may occur.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods; work may involve sitting, standing, or walking.
- Effective communication using speech and hearing.
- Use of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive movements (e.g., typing).
- Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Vision abilities: distance, close, color vision, and focus.
Pay
Pay Range: $50,000–$55,000
