This role is a development program designed to prepare you for an Outside Sales Representative position at Cowtown Materials, Inc. You will master functional areas such as branch operations, delivery processes, inside sales, and deep product knowledge in building materials including drywall, insulation, metal studs, ceiling systems, construction tools, safety items, drywall compound, and accessories. The role includes performing basic outside sales activities, from lead generation to closing sales in an assigned territory, as well as developing and implementing the company’s marketing plan.
Responsibilities
- Master all steps of the sales process, including preparing action plans by accounts and product line, and effectively searching and following through on sales leads and new customers.
- Identify and execute opportunities for up-sell and cross-sell.
- Establish rapport with customers to build long-term, repeat relationships.
- Generate new business, make sales, and obtain orders.
- Provide product knowledge to assist customers in buying decisions.
- Deliver timely and accurate competitive pricing on prospect applications.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, sales, and pricing.
- Gather competitive market and pricing information.
- Understand material warehousing and delivery processes.
- Master the customer invoicing process and ensure company adherence.
- Assist with scheduling, coordination, preparation, and processing of physical inventory.
- Research and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Assist with pricing issues and change requests.
Requirements
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to self-manage and experience in supplier relationship management.
- Knowledge of building materials and construction industry strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with Excel preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time.
