Outside Plant Manager

Richesin Engineering builds and maintains outside plant infrastructure in places most contractors won't go — remote Oregon, Alaska bush communities, and Pacific island terrain.

About the role

We're looking for an Outside Plant Manager who can lead a mixed crew of tower climbers, fiber splicers, and construction technicians and actually get the work done right. This is a field-first leadership role. You'll be managing crew performance, coordinating job-site logistics, maintaining safety compliance, and keeping projects on schedule — while staying hands-on enough to know when something's wrong before it becomes a problem. Travel is a significant part of this role. Projects span Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii. We handle logistics and per diem — you bring the leadership and the technical depth to back it up.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crews of tower climbers, fiber splicers, and OSP construction technicians
• Manage day-to-day field operations across fiber construction and tower projects
• Coordinate job-site logistics including equipment, materials, and crew scheduling
• Oversee fusion splicing operations and ensure quality control on fiber builds
• Enforce safety protocols and maintain full OSHA compliance on all job sites
• Read and interpret OSP construction drawings, strand maps, and splice schematics
• Interface with project managers, engineers, and clients to communicate progress and flag issues
• Complete daily field reports, as-built documentation, and crew timesheets accurately
• Mentor junior technicians and hold the crew to a high standard of workmanship

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in outside plant construction, fiber, or tower work
• Demonstrated crew leadership or supervisory experience in a field environment
• Working knowledge of fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber construction practices
• Tower climbing certification (ComTrain, NWSA, or equivalent) preferred
• Ability to read OSP construction drawings and splice schematics
• Strong safety mindset — OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; CDL a plus
• Comfortable with extended travel and remote project environments
• Clear communicator who can manage up to project managers and down to junior crew

Work Environment

You will be managing people who work at height, in trenches, and in weather that discourages most sensible humans. The work is physical, the travel is real, and the projects often happen in places that don't have a Starbucks nearby.
