Responsibilities
- Support the development of outside plant (OSP) initiatives
- Maintain current OSP records
- Provide support to Operations for facility-related maintenance issues
- Develop and submit preliminary route proposals and estimates of project costs
- Perform route staking on approved routes
- Evaluate bids and recommend contractor selection
- Oversee job construction to ensure adherence to design and plant specifications
- Obtain necessary permits and rights-of-way
- Ensure proper construction clean-up
- Review and verify contractor invoices for accuracy
- Create final as-built documentation for permanent records
- Coordinate the inclusion of new plant into One-Call databases
- Notify OSP Locate Companies of additional assets requiring locate support
- Represent Bluebird Network for OSP issues with relevant departments and vendors
- Work closely with Bluebird employees, contractors, and vendors
- Represent Bluebird in customer communities
Requirements
- College degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Fiber optics training including fusion splicing, fiber storage techniques, optical design considerations, and physical characteristics
- Experience with outside plant route planning and construction management
- Knowledge of Outside Plant route planning and construction management
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record
- Self-motivated and highly productive
- Strong general PC skills including drafting, mapping, and GIS database administration
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and under challenging circumstances
- Highly developed organization and coordination skills
