Outreach Van Driver - Overnight Shift/BE (63111)
About the role
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a full-time Outreach Van Driver for our Withdrawal Management program, which provides 24/7 acute care services to clients who are intoxicated and/or in acute withdrawal. The driver will transport clients for the organization, respond to requests from contracted agencies, and transport admitted clients to hospitals, aftercare, or other approved services. This role may also involve monitoring vital signs and withdrawal symptoms, completing risk assessments, and interfacing with community partners such as hospitals and law enforcement.
The ideal candidate works well on a team and in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable serving clients who are intoxicated or in acute withdrawal, and provides excellent customer service both in the clinic and the community.
Responsibilities
- Respond to requests from contracted and approved agencies outside of the organization for transportation of clients.
- Transport admitted clients to hospitals, aftercare, or other approved services as directed.
- Monitor and care for persons being transported.
- Assist in maintaining Outreach vehicles.
- Assist in admission/discharge processes and taking vital signs.
- De-escalate clients in crisis situations.
- Maintain telephone contact with the base facility and maintain legible and accurate written records.
- Provide a professional interface with referral sources to ensure clients are referred appropriately and maintain good relationships with referral sources.
- Assess clients for alcohol/drug intoxication, general physical and behavioral health, level of motivation, and other pertinent factors, and transport to the appropriate facility.
- Complete needed care coordination tasks for the assigned role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License with a driving record that meets the organization’s requirements.
- Must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to perform or learn to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Required annual influenza (flu) vaccination and negative TB test result before the first day of work. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested.
Preferred qualifications:
- Six months of prior transporting experience.
Schedule
This position is fully onsite/in-person. The available schedule is Wednesday through Saturday overnights, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
Pay
Starting wage is based on experience and company equity, ranging from $19.29 – $27.50 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
Shift Differential Pay:
- Day Weekend (Saturday, Sunday, 7 AM – 3 PM): $1.50/hour
- Swing Weekday (Monday–Thursday, 3 PM – 11 PM): $1.50/hour
- Swing Weekend (Friday–Sunday, 3 PM – 11 PM): $2.75/hour
- Overnight Weekday (Monday–Thursday, 11 PM – 7 AM): $2.75/hour
- Overnight Weekend (Friday–Sunday, 11 PM – 7 AM): $4.00/hour
Bilingual Language Differential Pay: Employees who successfully pass a language assessment are eligible for a fixed amount of $3,000 per calendar year, paid bi-weekly across 26 pay periods and prorated based on hire date and full-time equivalency (FTE).
