Core Summary

The Outreach Specialist 2 supports in developing and implementing new and existing public education and outreach programs, serving as a liaison to the community. Moreover, the incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and effectiveness. The Outreach Specialist 2 utilizes project management skills to organize community outreach activities.

Core Functions

  • Supports in the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs.
  • Works with community-based organizations to plan promotional educational and other events targeted towards designing an increased awareness in the community.
  • Affords assistance in the publishing activities: writing, editing, budgeting, scheduling, and distribution.
  • Interacts effectively with outside advertising agencies, printers, photographers, and other vendors.
  • Aids with the preparation and distribution of public health education and navigation manuals.
  • Identifies effective strategies for promoting enrollment in ongoing studies, conducting active and passive recruitment, in-person, and online outreach.
  • Counsels brief surveys by phone and in community settings.
  • Affords aid in compiling data for presentations.
  • Develops professional relationships with health providers, researchers, and community members.
  • Collaborates with other members of the team on special projects and events.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Certification and Licensing: Phlebotomy Certification
  • Experience: Minimum 4 Years Of Relevant Experience
  • Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Commitment to the University’s core values. Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
