About the role

Village Health Center at Father Joe’s Villages seeks an Outreach & Enrollment Coordinator to serve as a trusted guide, helping community members understand their health coverage options and connecting them with essential resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to individuals, families, and community partners to increase awareness of available health coverage programs and services
  • Provide education regarding health insurance options, eligibility requirements, enrollment processes, and available community resources
  • Participate in outreach events, health fairs, enrollment activities, and community engagement efforts
  • Conduct eligibility screenings and assist clients with enrollment in Medi-Cal, Covered California, managed care plans, and other available health coverage programs
  • Complete applications, gather required documentation, and help resolve barriers that may delay or prevent enrollment
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation of outreach, enrollment, and client engagement activities
  • Coordinate with clients, county eligibility workers, managed care organizations, healthcare providers, and community partners to address enrollment issues
  • Connect clients to supportive services, including transportation, nutrition assistance, housing resources, and other community-based programs, as appropriate
  • Support care coordination efforts and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote access to healthcare services

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in health insurance enrollment, eligibility determination, patient financial services, benefits navigation, care coordination, customer service, or a related healthcare or human services role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Enrollment Counselor (CEC) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Experience working with Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California, managed care organizations, or public benefit programs strongly preferred
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing financial hardship, housing instability, or other barriers to healthcare access preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required

  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California, managed care organizations, and health insurance enrollment processes
  • Understanding of eligibility determination, verification procedures, and documentation requirements for public benefit programs
  • Ability to explain complex eligibility and enrollment information clearly and effectively
  • Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client cases, competing priorities, and enrollment deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Skilled in problem-solving and resolving enrollment barriers within established guidelines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, county agencies, managed care organizations, and community partners
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and follow-through skills
  • Commitment to serving individuals and families with compassion, respect, empathy, empowerment, and dignity

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position that combines office-based work, community outreach, enrollment support, and participation in outreach events throughout the community. While the typical schedule is Monday through Friday, occasional evenings or weekends may be required to support outreach activities, enrollment events, community partnerships, and operational needs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this role is $22.00 to $25.30 per hour, paid out bi-weekly.
  • Final placement and starting pay rate will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, certification status, and internal equity considerations.
