About the role

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Opelousas is dedicated to helping adults and seniors manage mental health issues such as anxiety and depression through various inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) therapists provide direct clinical services including assessments, interventions, treatment planning, and discharge planning, along with individual, family, and group therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice.
  • Plans and conducts group therapy as assigned by the Director of Intensive Outpatient Program or physician's order.
  • Conducts, assesses, and interprets Comprehensive Integrated Assessments.
  • Reviews and compiles Multidisciplinary Treatment Plans under the supervision of the attending physician.
  • Performs case management and discharge planning as assigned.
  • Attends multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, provides updates on assigned patients, and integrates reports from all disciplines into a summary that facilitates patient progress.
  • Delivers patient services in an ethical manner promoting respect and enhancing patient dignity and satisfaction.
  • Affirms the ability to assess and interpret a patient's response to treatment in an age/disability/culturally sensitive manner.
  • Assesses and interprets age/disability/cultural needs; identifies safety, psychosocial, special mobility, and special equipment needs; communicates in an age/disability/culturally sensitive manner to patients and their families.
  • Conducts treatment and discharge planning in accordance with age/disability/cultural needs and involves members of the patient's support system in decision-making as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Educational/Experience Requirements: At a minimum a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LPC-A (TX Only) or Psychologist with 0 to 1 year post-graduate experience in clinical practice.
  • Qualifications/Skills: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related disability-related needs of the patients served on assignment. Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status to identify needs and provide appropriate care, including age-specific care/disability/cultural sensitivity care for adolescent, chronically mentally ill, adult, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed patient populations. Must have basic knowledge of chronic mental illness and clinical therapy modalities. Must have excellent communication and group/process skills as related to age-specific patient needs. Must be able to demonstrate assessment, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning skills. Must be able to pass the general age/disability post-test. Must be versatile, flexible, and able to perform in stressful situations; must be able to cope mentally and physically to the atmosphere.
  • Working Environment: Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high-paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to the atmosphere.
