Outpatient Radiologic Technologist - Part Time

About the role

Radiologic Technologists provide exams in the field of radiologic imaging to include diagnostic x-ray, c-arm, and bone density to the specifications of the ordering provider and radiologist’s needs. Maintains knowledge concerning radiation protection and safety in addition to infection control and standard precautions. Perform patient assessments and provide patient care in a timely, professional, efficient, and safe manner. May be required to provide coverage for other outreach sites located in Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and West Ashley.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiologic examinations timely, accurately, and safely for radiologist interpretation.
  • Assure the radiology suite and adjacent clinical and common areas are prepared to receive patients/visitors.
  • Support culture of safety through system improvement, active participation in group meetings, and addressing patient care problems.
  • Evaluate and appropriately respond to verbal and non-verbal communication from patients across diverse stages of development.
  • Complete procedures following approved procedure protocols with sufficient speed to promote departmental efficiency.
  • Complete required documentation for each procedure, both computer and handwritten.
  • Demonstrate technical competence in the operation of imaging equipment and the use of procedure-related supplies.
  • Introduce self to patients, explain the procedure, assist the patient at the end of the procedure, and explain next steps.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in attitude, appearance, and communication.
  • Obtain pertinent history, verify orders, and communicate effectively with co-workers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or within 12 months of hire.
  • Registry-eligible candidates must hold a Temporary B license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards.
  • Registered Technologists must hold a state license from South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience

  • 0 to 2 years of modality-specific work experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, and reach in all directions.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex-safe environment, and work indoors.
  • Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.
  • Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
