Job Summary

Primary schedule: M-F, shifts range from 7 AM-5 PM EST

Responsibilities

  • Prescription processing
  • Medication preparation and distribution
  • Insurance claim resolution
  • Inventory management
  • Operation and monitoring of automated dispensing systems
  • Maintenance of pharmacy records
  • Quality assurance activities

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Licenses and Credentials: Pharmacy Technician [State License] - Required, Pharmacy Technician Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) - required
  • Experience: 2-3 years preferred, 1-2 years retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred

Essential Functions

  • Follow established policies and procedures to perform a variety of routine support tasks
  • Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices
  • Supports the operations of the pharmacy and ensures the safe and efficient delivery of medications and healthcare products
  • Utilizes area-specific technology, including, but not limited to, robotics, automation, software, equipment, and information systems
  • Demonstrates professionalism and effectively communicates with patients and caregivers to gather information and or triage inquiries
  • Handle and prepare all controlled substances in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Affixes to assist with the training of junior pharmacy technician and trainee team members
  • Affixes to assist with the organization of the pharmacy's inventory and operational flow
  • Affixes to assist with preparing reports, conduct safety and quality assurance audits and participate in inventory management and control

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulations, and technician scope of practice
  • Proficiency in prescription processing, medication calculations, and drug identification
  • Problem-solving skills related to insurance claims and prescription issues
  • Experience with pharmacy technology and automated dispensing systems
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage inventory effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
