Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist at Texas Orthopedics in Kyle

About the role

Innovative Therapy Concepts, in partnership with Texas Orthopedics, is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist or a new graduate to join our outpatient orthopedic team in Kyle, Texas. This role focuses on evaluating and treating a diverse caseload of surgical and non-operative patients, including upper and lower extremity and spine conditions. The position emphasizes restoring function, relieving pain, and preventing disability through medically prescribed physical therapy.

Responsibilities

• Review physician referrals and patient medical records to determine required physical therapy treatment.
• Perform tests and measures to assess strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency; record findings to develop or revise treatment programs.
• Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.
• Administer manual and therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion, flexibility, and cardiovascular function.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing physical activities and using assistive devices such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and prostheses.
• Apply physical agents including hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, TENS, and dry needling.
• Evaluate treatment effects at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
• Administer massage and traction to relieve pain.
• Record treatment, response, and progress in patient charts or electronic records.
• Instruct patients and families in home treatment procedures.
• Evaluate, fit, and adjust prosthetic and orthotic devices; recommend modifications to orthotists.
• Confer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs, and integrate physical therapy with other aspects of patient care.
• Orient, instruct, and direct work activities of assistants, technicians, and students.
• Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy for medical staff, students, and community groups.
• Participate in planning and conducting physical therapy research programs.
• Consult and collaborate with a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses, educators, social workers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists.
• Supervise physical therapy assistants or technicians in designated situations.

Requirements

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.
• Hold an active and current Physical Therapist License to practice in Texas.
• Passed the National Physical Therapy Examination and fulfilled state requirements such as the jurisprudence exam.
• Strong drive to learn, grow, and enhance clinical skills.
• Emphasis on patient care, quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
• Responsible individual with a solid work ethic and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work occasional weekend shifts in designated sites.
