About the role

The Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapist assists patients in pain management, reducing fall risk, improving mobility and independence, and supporting discharge planning to enhance functional mobility.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients with movement dysfunction or pain to improve daily task performance, reduce adverse event risks (e.g., falls, DVT), enhance work task involvement, aid post-surgical recovery, and improve outcomes.
• Document all patient care activities, including evaluations, progress notes, discharges, daily notes, insurance approvals/denials, and phone conversations.
• Communicate with providers, insurance companies, patients, rehab staff, and supervisors via phone.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Professional degree in physical therapy (Doctorate preferred).
• Wisconsin physical therapy license and continuing education to maintain licensure.
• ACLS/BLS certification preferred.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

Skills

• Intermediate proficiency with computers.
• Strong knowledge of physical therapy practices.
• Strong quantitative and analytical competency.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.

Schedule

• Full-time, 80 hours per pay period.
• Flexible scheduling: five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday.
• Paid holidays with holiday rotation.

Mauston, WI (population 4,500) offers a small-town feel with access to unique recreational and cultural experiences. Located on the Lemonweir River and near Petenwell and Castle Rock Lakes, the area provides abundant outdoor recreation. Centrally located in southwestern Wisconsin on Interstate 90-94, Mauston is approximately 73 miles from Madison, 140 miles from Milwaukee, and 215 miles from both Chicago and Minneapolis.
