Pay

Responsibilities

• Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams provided by the department per department procedures.
• Verifies proper clinician order for procedure and obtains complete clinical history, including examination data and assessment for contraindicating conditions.
• Administers radiopharmaceuticals following established procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Ensures all studies have proper patient identification and right/left markers are utilized appropriately.
• Reviews images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
• Responds to emergency situations, restocks crash carts, and maintains life support equipment.
• Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
• Verifies patient identity using two unique identifiers prior to performing procedures.
• Ensures patient privacy, comfort, and dignity throughout exams.
• Demonstrates competence in applying appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques based on patient age.
• Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames.
• Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
• Uses critical thinking skills, dialogs with patients/families, and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
• Demonstrates and documents pre-procedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate.
• Prepares patients for procedures, maintains sterile technique, and demonstrates competency with venipuncture.
• Adjusts techniques to ensure optimal image quality and reports malfunctioning equipment promptly.
• Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies.
• Explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Discuss, Explain, Thank You).
• Addresses patient questions, concerns, or contraindications, notifying physicians when necessary.
• Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
• Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology.
• Consistently produces acceptable images as evidenced by radiologist feedback and quality audits.
• Ensures equipment is fully operational prior to each use by checking calibration and operating deficiencies.
• Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion and prints CDs as needed.
• Completes all studies in RIS before finalizing in PACS.
• Restocks linens and supplies, maintains department cleanliness, and transports patients.
• Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered.
• Applies supportive and immobilization devices and equipment.
• Assists colleagues willingly and maintains individual productivity equal to coworkers.
• Keeps supervisor informed of responsibilities and notifies promptly in case of problems.
• Operates NM equipment within the department and maintains Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
• Takes call when necessary and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Nuclear Medicine Program.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical setting caring for patients (may include clinical rotations).
• Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine (NM) experience.

Qualifications

• ARRT-N (ARRT Nuclear Technology) or CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or equivalent (e.g., ARC-BLS, BLS-I).
