Outpatient Dialysis Registered Nurse - RN

About the role

The Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry-level registered nurse responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in a dialysis setting. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, as well as delegation of tasks to care staff. The role involves collaboration within the healthcare team, participation in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and monitor during hemodialysis treatments, adjusting care as needed.
• Educate patients and families about treatment options and self-care.
• Administer medications and respond to emergencies.
• Ensure proper laboratory procedures and documentation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to update care plans and ensure safe treatment delivery.
• Assist in staff training and orientation.
• Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program with current state licensure.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Entry-level experience with less than 2 years in nephrology nursing; dialysis experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and team collaboration skills.

• Involves physical activities like lifting, moving patients, and standing for long periods.
• Works in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious materials.
• Requires adaptability for travel and working in various locations.
