We are seeking an Outpatient Clinic Assistant to join our imaging team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This is a casual, non-benefit-eligible position that works as needed during the day shift, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to patients/visitors in the clinic/on the phone.
  • Greets patients in a respectful manner and assesses need for special accommodation/transfer.
  • Responds to patient questions and addresses customer satisfaction issues efficiently.
  • Relays preparatory instructions to patients and provides direction to appropriate areas within the hospital, outpatient clinics, and ancillary services.
  • Coordinates visits with specialists, diagnosticians, and other ancillary departments for specialized care.
  • Properly manages medical record information when preparing and transferring charts.
  • Prioritizes the multiple needs of specialty clinic patients to enhance convenience and satisfaction.
  • Provides secretarial support including transcribing physician orders and using required forms/documents.
  • Collaborates with health team members (physicians, residents, fellows, nursing, clerical staff, and ancillary services) to provide quality care.
  • Operates scheduling, registration, referral, billing, and record results reporting systems.
  • Verifies and completes necessary information for registration, charge capture, and referral management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of contracted payors and obligations of primary or specialty clinics.
  • Adjusts care or service approaches to reflect developmental and cultural differences.
  • Partners with caregivers in care/decision-making and communicates respectfully.
  • Ensures a safe, secure environment and individualizes care plans to meet patient needs.
  • Modifies clinical interventions based on the population served and provides patient education.
  • Demonstrates commitment to customers by meeting diverse needs and improving processes.
  • Respects confidentiality and shares information only with those who need to know.
  • Demonstrates commitment to fellow employees by valuing differences and resolving conflicts positively.
  • Contributes to the productivity of the workgroup through open, honest communication.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Good telephone and computer skills.
  • Understanding of Fairview’s mission and demonstration of Fairview’s core values.
  • Must participate in ongoing system-wide education and training.

Qualifications

  • A.A./A.S. or Vocational/Technical Training (preferred).
