Wayfair is hiring an Assistant Store Manager for our returns Outlet retail store, offering rapid growth, constant learning, and dynamic challenges.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $57,273 - $63,636 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Responsibilities
- Lead and create a best-in-class customer experience as an authentic brand ambassador for Wayfair.
- Assist the Store Manager in building a high-performing, customer-centric team and linking them authentically to all channels.
- Lead and develop a team of Sales Associates to meet sales goals.
- Master and share Wayfair’s brand story with polished communication, professionalism, and personal appearance.
- Recruit, hire, and retain a salesforce that delights customers and drives sales.
- Build a talent pipeline (internal and external) to deliver budgeted sales and exceptional customer experiences.
- Create schedules that ensure best-in-class customer service, meet operational requirements, and are fair for associates.
- Maintain leadership presence through effective floor management and resource allocation.
- Identify customer needs and balance them with operational requirements to meet experience standards.
- Perform opening and closing routines, ensuring the store meets financial goals and service standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous feedback, and ethical conduct.
- Support and inspire the team daily, treating all personnel with respect, empathy, and inclusion.
- Manage stockroom organization and supply levels to maximize efficiency, safety, and productivity.
- Utilize sales analytics tools to drive store profitability and growth.
- Monitor stock levels, merchandise adjacencies, presentations, signing, and assortment to ensure the sales floor is adequately stocked.
- Maintain visual standards required by Wayfair and Tanger Outlets.
- Participate in operational store activities such as bringing new products to the floor, floor sets, replenishment, substitutions, and general store upkeep.
- Share innovative ideas and solutions to continuously improve team operations.
- Emulate and guide by Wayfair’s People Principles daily.
Requirements
- 3+ years of leadership experience.
- Brick-and-mortar retail experience in furniture or home goods preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to motivate, influence, and inspire yourself and others.
- Track record of thriving in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Strong sales and customer service skills.
- Ability to anticipate customers' needs and recommend merchandise.
- Proficiency in operating and learning point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Technical acumen to learn necessary software; experience with Google Cloud G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) preferred.
- Ability to process information and merchandise through computer and POS systems.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly, frequently, or occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Schedule
Store hours are Monday–Saturday 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Sundays 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM. Employee shifts may include an hour before or after store hours and up to 4 hours before opening on receiving days. Schedules will be provided a minimum of 2 weeks in advance, with opportunities to trade shifts with teammates as needed.
