Outdoor Education Instructor-SMR (2026)

About the role

The Outdoor Education Instructors at Snow Mountain Ranch are responsible for teaching outdoor education classes, developing curriculum, performing organization tasks, communicating with schools and school leaders, and assisting with various projects and tasks that enhance the Outdoor Education Program.

Essential Functions

• Participate in the Outdoor Education training plan.
• Develop and implement curriculum and activities for schools visiting Snow Mountain Ranch.
• Adhere to all weekly scheduled activities and classes.
• Help to maintain a clean and organized staff area.
• Maintain a professional appearance in working with youth.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have experience and enjoy working with youth.
• Able to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time.
• Possess a real passion for, or be working towards a degree in Education, Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, or similar area of study.
• Possess and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Pass a background check to work with youth.
• Carry up to 30 pounds and hike up to 6 miles on uneven terrain each working day.
• Must have a valid US state issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and follow YMCA driving rules to operate YMCA vehicles.
• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays depending on your position.
