Part-time and seasonal position within the Adventures and Experiences team, reporting to the Experiences Manager and team-led by the Adventures and Experiences Director.
About the role
Outdoor Education Facilitators create memorable learning experiences for 5th-8th grade students attending the outdoor education program at Alliance Redwoods. Facilitators lead hands-on science classes, recreational activities, challenge courses, and team-building classes.
Responsibilities
- Lead outdoor science classes that align with program curriculum for students in 5th-8th grade
- Facilitate recreational activities including hiking, games, and team-building initiatives
- Operate challenge course elements following established safety standards
- Ensure participant safety by following camp policies, emergency procedures, and risk management practices
- Run activities for camp guest groups (age range may vary) on weekends as needed
- Assist in other areas of camp as needed
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in education or environmental science preferred
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (training provided if needed)
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff, teachers, students, and guest groups
- Experience working with youth preferred
- Complete and pass required trainings
- Work comfortably in a harness at heights of up to 200 ft
- Lift and carry 50 lbs or more on a regular basis
- Work in varying weather conditions
- Must be in harmony with Alliance Redwoods statement of faith
- Must pass background check
Pay
$18 per hour
