Outbound Content Specialist
About the role
Our Specialist program is designed for college students and recent graduates to build a future career in marketing or design. Specialists work 25–35 hours per week (part or full-time with a daily hour lunch break), collaborating with full-time employees on both client work and internal projects at Online Optimism.
As an Outbound Content Specialist, you’ll gain:
- Real, hands-on experience working on live client accounts—not practice projects.
- The opportunity to build your SEO, content writing, or email marketing portfolio.
- Insight into how a link goes from a cold pitch to a published citation.
- The chance to see your writing distributed to real subscriber lists and measure its performance.
Requirements
You should have:
- Strong writing skills, especially the kind that make a stranger want to reply.
- Comfort with research and the patience to dig for the right contact.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail, since outreach lives and dies by follow-up.
- An interest in SEO, content writing, or email marketing, and a willingness to learn what you don’t know yet.
- Reliability and consistency across multiple client accounts at once.
What excites you
- Pitching a range of industries, from national brands to local New Orleans businesses.
- Getting a “yes” from a publication and watching the link go live.
- Writing newsletters people actually open, then figuring out why they did.
- Owning a measurable piece of client work you can point to later.
Program features
Real Work, Real Experience
You’ll spend your time working on real assignments and projects, collaborating with full-time Optimists, and handling tasks independently. You’ll leave with a complete portfolio of work and strong examples for future interviews.
