Outage Coordinator
Position Summary
Sylvamo is seeking an Outage Coordinator for the Eastover, SC Mill to lead and coordinate outage planning, preparation, scheduling, readiness, and execution support with Manufacturing Work Systems (MWS) for safe, efficient, and well-controlled mill outages.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for all timing associated with outages from start of planning for Operations & Maintenance.
- Develop and maintain outage scope, schedules, milestones, and execution plans.
- Cook up Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, Storeroom, Contractors, and mill leadership to ensure work readiness.
- Identify critical path work, resource constraints, schedule risks, materials, tools, and contractor needs.
- Support outage budget tracking, cost reporting, readiness reviews, and leadership updates.
- Facilitate outage planning meetings and drive accountability for milestone completion.
- Lead post-outage critiques and ensure lessons learned are applied to future outages.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five or more years of experience in maintenance, operations, planning, scheduling, or outage coordination in an industrial environment, or BS in Engineering and 3 years of maintenance experience
- Proficient with SAP PM or a similar CMMS, and MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools, Word and Excel
- Strong communication, coordination, and prioritization skills across multiple functions
- Able to support outages, off-hours coordination, and industrial safety requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering degree, associate degree, or related certification
- Experience coordinating major outages, shutdowns, or turnarounds in pulp and paper or heavy manufacturing
- Knowledge of maintenance planning, contractor coordination, work package readiness, budget tracking, and continuous improvement
Work Environment Requirements
- Work in an industrial mill environment, including field walkdowns and outage execution support
- Support overtime, weekends, nights, or adjusted schedules as needed for outages
- Comply with all site safety, environmental, and PPE requirements
- Participate in on call rotation
- Follow all safety requirements including wearing proper PPE
- Participate in site safety programs and compliance requirements
- Undergo drug screening and comply with company policies
