About the role
An Outpatient Counselor provides direct care of clients under the supervision of the Center's Director and is responsible for all aspects of a client's treatment and care.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions to clients
- Assess and document client progress and needs
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology or mental health field, minimum
- Masters degree in counseling, social work, behavioral medicine preferred
- Two years experience in an addiction treatment setting preferred
- Licensed in addiction counseling, counseling, social work
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective in working with a team
- Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication
- Familiar with federal and state regulations relating to field of employment, as well as JCAHO requirements
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to: Microsoft office, Outlook and the aptitude to navigate electronic medical records effectively
- Basic office equipment skills including but not limited to: photocopiers, scanners, fax machines, telephone system, shred boxes, calculators, computers, printers and keyboards
