Essential Functions
- Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests.
- Exemplifies the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries promptly.
- Supervises a group of children grades K-5.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally proper, and consistent with the YMCA values.
- Provides leadership to co-staff.
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings, training, and dedicated events (Family nights and others).
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
- Fulfills any other functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Must pass a background check
- 2+ years' experience working with youth, preferably in a school age setting.
- Behavioral management experience within a School, Childcare, Camp setting or parenthood is preferred.
- 1-3 years' experience working with children with cognitive and developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Effective verbal communication skills
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training with the first 30 days of hire.
- Completed health form within the first 30 days of hire.
